"Scrub Oak," a mixed-media collage, is a vibrant composition of clustered autumn leaves. Painted in shades of orange and yellow, the leaves have prominent black outlines. The leaves show the intricate pattern of veins that branch out from the central stem. In the middle of the leaf, there is a depiction of two acorns with a textured caps, suggesting maturity or ripeness.
The background consists of a collage of different elements including quotes, geometric shapes, and fragments of Greek letters. It has a weathered, vintage appeal, using earth tones like browns and oranges that complement the main subject. Contrasting graphical elements, such as a silhouetted bird, and diagonal stripes, add a dynamic touch to the piece.
The composite nature of the artwork, with layered elements and varied textures, gives it a mixed-media feel, and suggests themes of nature, change, and possibly the passage of time, evoked by the autumnal motif and scrapbook-like background.
