"Scribbly Sunflowers" are a series of a vibrant representations of the Kansas State Flower. In this example, called "Charms of Rural America," the sunflower is centrally positioned with a large, bright yellow bloom and a prominent brown center, indicative of the flower's seeds. The two leaves attached to the stem are large and rendered in a solid greenish color, displaying a simplified form. There's an abstract quality to the background with layers of paint and fragments of text and a child's storybook, creating a textured effect. The blue and white colors in the background contrast with the yellow and brown of the sunflower, making the subject stand out prominently. Overall, the image gives off a bold and slightly whimsical feel due to the striking colors and collage elements. These pieces are currently available at ArtCentric,
